One of my favorite things about staying home with my boys is that I never have to miss those tiny little special events that will occur at school.
Today's was Liam's Valentine's Day celebration. A small little affair as his class consists of just 12 children (including Mr. Man).
And nothing grandiose.
You insist on wearing your "fancy" sweater for the festive occasion. Then, there is a lot of waiting for the chance to pass out your special valentines that you got to make at home with your mama...
and more waiting (because when you're last in a line of 12....that's a lot when you're five)....
and even more waiting (until you almost fall asleep and even ask your mama for a school with cots because your little brother woke you up too early)...
until FINALLY it's your turn to hand out your special valentines to all your friends.
And then a bit of cookie decorating...
during which you INSIST on no fancy valentine sprinkles or special pink sugar because you do not like those things...
and then you get to check out all your special valentines before heading home for the weekend.
When you look at it, it's just a small pre-k valentine party. But add in a fancy sweater, some homemade valentines, and the chance to partake of this very very special event with your five year old who declares it "the best valentine's day party ever", and it adds up the biggest best thing in the world...the opportunity to share it with him and a day that I'm so grateful to have had with him and will not soon forget.
I love you, Liam. Thanks for being my valentine!
