Happy Birthday to Me!!

Woopee!!

This week, I was able to enjoy my birthday surrounded by the men I love. And they treated me like a princess, complete with a "fancy flower necklace"...

Party girl

and full-on, all pink, princess paraphrenalia...

My princess party

all picked out by my sweet Liam (who confessed to his dad that he thought that they should also pick out some Transformer supplies for he and George). I even had a Tinkerbell candle!

But the greatest gift of all, was spending some time hanging with this guy...

Hi there

and this guy...

Ready for bed

even though it was nearly his bedtime and his mood was mostly like this...

Cranky G...it was soooo bedtime for him

Really, is there nothing better in life than watching your first born enjoy a nice summer day to it's fullest extent?!

Flying

Crazy

Ready to rumble

I fell down

That's what birthdays are really about after all...celebrating life. And how can I not when my life includes this little guy.

My sweet boy

Thanks for making me a princess. What a fantastic day with some fantastic boys!!

July

It's been a bit since I've written and I thought I'd catch up on all the little boy happenings this past month.

Right after my last post, we headed to Nags Head for our annual beach vacation. Both boys loved the beach. Liam's favorite part was "wooshing his feet in the ocean"

Running from the waves

while George enjoyed chilling in his pool.

Happy to be on vacation

George probably most enjoyed spending a ton of quality time with his favorite person

Coming back from boarding

who became more and more relaxed as the vacation wore on.

Relaxed T-man

We got to see and do a lot of fun things like visit the aquarium

Look what G found

and take a 2 1/2 hour jeep ride on the beaches of Corolla

Our Driver (I did drive a bit too)

My Boys

Heading back

which G found extremely relaxing!

Sleepy Jeep Ride

All in all..a very successful and enjoyable vacation!

Since we've been back, the boys have really enjoyed spending time with Lawnmow. G named Nick "Lawnmow" because pretty much the first time we saw Nick after he moved out here, he came to pick up his lawnmower which we had been storing in our garage and the boys had been fascinated with. Liam asked us for the past three months which one was cooler...Nick's lawnmower or Daddy's. So, of course, we had a lawnmower-off!

First Nick started up his lawnmower..

Nico's Lawnmower

Then Taylor...

Daddy's Lawnmower

The contestants nervously awaited by the results of the officials (Liam):

Awaiting results

And the winner was announced!!

The Winner

The best part is that my lawn that got mowed super fast since I had three helpers!

3 Lawnmowers

And that is how "Lawnmow" got his name.Needless to say, George LOVES Lawnmow, and gets so excited everytime we see him (which is nearly every day). He is usually close to wherever Nick goes.

George LOVES Lawnmow

Liam has been enjoying camp each morning at the Child Development Center on post. Everymorning, when we drive on, he sees the "No Concealed Weapons" sign at the gate and has been asking lots of questions about it, in true Liam-style. So, recently, he decided he would post a couple of signs of his own in his room.

In his closet (which he likes to hang out in for some reason), there is a "No Smoking" sign:

Liam's No Smoking sign

and in his tent that I made him is a "No Concealed Weapons (or guns)" sign:

Yes, my child is a bit strange, but at least he's not boring. And he does have the best smile in the world!

Happy Liam

Monday begins Taylor's first full week back to work since the deployment. Liam has one more week of camp before 2 1/2 weeks off until the start of pre-kindergarten. And, yes, I'm a bit terrified of having all of this happen at once. But, I'm working on getting back to teacher mode and planning out some activities for the boys and I to do during that break while T-man is at work. Plus, the latest addition to our backyard should help keep the boys occupied a bunch. At least I hope so. If I don't post again in the next couple of weeks....send help. I may need it!!

It's Busy Around Here

Yesterday afternoon was spent helping with yard work at Mimi and Tooey's. Liam declared to me at one point, "It's busy around here!" And it was!

The helpers included one that was not so scared of the lawnmower...

T-man's shadow

Ugh

And one that was definitely worried about the lawnmower and chose to stay safe in the garage...

Worried

Bike ride

I did manage to coax the nervous one out of the garage where he decided he wanted to tell me all about Mimi's flowers...

Telling me about Mimi's flowers

and show me his "fluffies" as he calls them...

My fluffies!

He did decide to jump in when it was time to help empty the bag of grass...

Helping empty the bag

and was even talked into helping push the lawnmower (or boom boom Da! as G calls it) back to the shed...

Brave little pusher

He was also very willing to help Tooey blow the grass clippings off the sidewalk...

The blower

There were three things going through my mind when watching all this unfold yesterday.

The first is that there is something pretty awesome about a Daddy who gets equally excited about playing lawnmower with one child...

I can do this!

as he does checking out the fluffies with the other...

Showing Daddy the fluffies

The second thing I know for sure is that this one is not always as tough as he pretends to be..

Paci kid

The third is that I love both of these children more than I can explain.

Me and My Shadow

My lawn looks great now :)

I don't think Taylor or I ever would have guessed how quickly and intensely George has adjusted to Taylor being home these past two months. He follows him everywhere...literally...and freaks out if Taylor so much as goes downstairs. He must always be within sight or George is not a happy camper. So, very often, when I find George, I'll find scenes like this:

Chillin with Da and watching shows this morning; both these gentlemen need their coffee to wake up

or this:

Riding the rails with Daddy

or this:

Taylor and his shadow

Mr. G continues to remain our happy little guy. He has grown so much and is talking up a storm, although mostly one word at a time. He calls Taylor "dee-da" since Daddy is still a bit tough. While he is making a full-out attempt to live off of nothing but milk, he weighed in a few weeks ago at 26 lbs and 33 inches. He is our tough, rambunctious guy and runs and jumps everywhere. (be sure to check out his latest video of him jumping on the video site...you would think it hurts, but he apparently must have no nerve endings). George is loving staying home and seems to like being here in our new house. I would say his favorite thing by far is being outside:

Busy boy

Swinging

We are adjusting to our new home and having everyone back together and are so happy everyday that even on our most stressful days, we have this character to cheer us up:

I'm hilarious!
